Speedy Housing Benefits Response by Three Rivers

Three Rivers District Council has been confirmed as one of the best councils for processing housing benefit claims. In the latest figures for April – July 2019, it was second in the country for the speed of dealing with new Housing Benefit claims, taking on average just four days. The speed of processing changes in circumstances was just five days, placing the council fifth in the country.

In 2011 the council was processing new claims in 44 days and changes in circumstances in 38 days.

Leader of the Council, Sara Bedford, said: “I am pleased to see how efficient Three Rivers is at processing claims. Having to claim benefits is very stressful for residents. We owe it to them to process their claims as quickly as possible.​

“Council officers have worked hard to improve the way claims are administered. Three Rivers will continue to look for ways to serve residents and other customers as efficiently and effectively as possible.”
