ar saw Three Rivers District Council step in to fund the launch of extra new bus journeys for residents in South Oxhey.
Three Rivers District Council is funding the Arriva Route 8 Sunday Service as a new route and extra journeys to give residents in the Muirfield Road area better access to leisure facilities, shops, and rail stations. Buses will run regularly on the new route, once every hour, every Sunday.
The trial will provide information to see whether people choose to use the bus to travel around South Oxhey and into Watford on a Sunday. A significant benefit of these new journeys is increased access from the ‘Muirfield Road loop', a large residential area for which this is the sole bus route.
Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst, Lead Member for Transport said: “We are lucky the Council put aside £90,000 in its budget to help fund public transport following reductions made by the County Council - who are in fact the transport authority. However we believe it's vital that South Oxhey residents are not left isolated hence our earlier funding of the W19 to extend that service in the evening and morning that started in October and now this hourly service Sunday service. We believe this will make a real difference to the people living and working in the area and ensure better public transport links.”
