Skills, wellbeing and fun will be top of the agenda at a special community event being held later this month in Mill End.
Skills, wellbeing and fun will be top of the agenda at a special community event being held later this month in Mill End.
The Mill End and Maple Cross Community Event - organised by Three Rivers District Council - will host a variety of community organisations and other local services to increase awareness of what is available for the community, as well as promoting wellbeing.
Activities including yoga, health advice including mental wellbeing, skills and employment support, and fun activities for children will be taking place as well as entertainment and interactive stalls demonstrations.
Organisations taking part include a local GP and oral health team, weight management experts Beezee Bodies and Watford FC Community Trust. The Community Learning Partnership, Watford Women’s Centre & Cap Life will be on hand to provide information on their courses. Other organisations present on the day will include Herts Mind Network, Age UK, Citizens Advice Bureau, South West Herts Samaritans and the Watford & Three Rivers Trust which will be sharing details on its Slice of Happiness programme. Free hot food and drinks will be available, prepared and served by West Herts College Food Academy.
Cllr Sarah Nelmes, the Leader of Three Rivers Distict Council, said: “I am really pleased to promote this great event, which will help to support residents in Mill End and Maple Cross, and across Three Rivers. The wide range of community organisations involved offer great support and empower people to improve their wellbeing. This event will hopefully highlight what opportunities are out there and how to get involved. In Three Rivers, we are working hard to promote ways of supporting those seeking help by providing upskilling and wellness opportunities also.”
Other activities include confidence and acting workshops for young people aged four to 17-years-old from the Show-Off Squad, face painting, Hertfordshire County Council’s Services for Young People and tips on energy saving to reduce bills. Hertfordshire Police and Fire Service will also be in attendance informing attendees about scams, crime prevention and fire safety, they will also be assisted by the Three Rivers District Council Anti-Social Behaviour team to raise awareness.
The Mill End and Maple Cross Community Event will take place at the Mill End Community Centre on Saturday 18 February 2023, from 11am until 3pm.
