Working together to prevent terrorism

The council works in partnership with the Police, housing providers, schools, colleges and a wide range of partnership agencies to challenge those who want to radicalise vulnerable people.

Prevent is a national programme that aims to stop people from becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism. It works to ensure that people who are susceptible to radicalisation are offered appropriate interventions, and communities are protected against radicalising influences.

If you’re concerned about someone in your community, please contact your local police force by calling 101 or if you need urgent police assistance dial 999. If you see or hear something that could be terrorist related, call the Anti-Terrorist Hotline on 0800 789 321.

ACT Early is the Counter-Terrorism Policing safeguarding website that encourages families and friends to report concerns that a loved one may be vulnerable to radicalisation. ACT Early provides information on things to look out for, case studies and the details of a new national Prevent helpline which sits with the Police.
