Residents are set to benefit from a £500,000 investment at William Penn Leisure Centre, which promises to elevate the fitness experience for all users.

Beginning next month, the gym will undergo a comprehensive transformation, introducing state-of-the-art equipment and modern amenities just in time for the festive season.

Everyone Active, which manage the leisure centre in partnership with Three Rivers District Council, is reconfiguring the gym layout and introducing a broad range of new equipment from industry leaders Life Fitness and Hammer Strength.

Members can look forward to a range of new cardio equipment like treadmills, exercise bikes and rowing machines.

There will be a broader range of strength training options with free weights, cable machines, plate-loaded resistance machines and specialised equipment like a hip thrust station and more power racks.

The improvements will also include new contemporary décor, modern lighting and upgraded flooring to create a more inspiring environment.

The cardio section will also be completely revamped, with cutting-edge machines such as recline and recumbent bikes, stair climbers, cross trainers, treadmills and rowers.

Alongside this, a new relaxation zone will be added, equipped with massage guns to aid in post-workout recovery.

In addition to the gym enhancements, the renovation will also refurbish the centre's group cycling studio, which is now complete with brand new Keiser bikes. The two group exercise studios are also currently undergoing upgrades.

John Sewell, Everyone Active Contract Manager, said: "William Penn Leisure Centre is an integral part of our community and we’re excited to move forward with this transformation.

"The group cycling studio refurbishment is now complete, and we're currently upgrading the two group exercise studios. These improvements will help us keep up with growing demand and open up more opportunities for local residents to be active.

“We know our members are eager for these changes, and we believe this investment will provide them a more dynamic and inspiring space to pursue their fitness goals."

Cllr Chris Lloyd, Three Rivers District Council’s Lead Member for Leisure, said: “Supporting our residents’ health is key, and that is why I am delighted to see even more investment into William Penn Leisure Centre, which will continue to help our residents be happy, fit and healthy.

“The leisure centre has seen significant investment in such a short time not only to expand and enhance its fitness offering but also to help decarbonise the building by adding new solar panels, electric vehicle charge points and energy-saving LED lights.”

There will be a 12-day closure between 9 to the 21 December to complete the gym refurbishment project. The rest of the facility is unaffected.

Members can continue to swim and attend group exercise classes at William Penn Leisure Centre for the duration of the refurbishment works.

During this time, members will also receive access to gyms, swimming pools and group exercise classes across all Everyone Active sites including South Oxhey Leisure Centre, Watford Leisure Centre – Central, Watford Woodside, Chilterns Lifestyle Centre and Chalfont Leisure Centre.
