New data shows Three Rivers is top performing council in Herts
Three Rivers District Council is the top local authority in Hertfordshire and is in the top ten best councils in the country, according to government figures.
In a new analysis by the Office for Local Government (Oflog), which was ranked by The Times newspaper, the district council was ranked the eighth best run local authority in the country out of 317.
The government set up Oflog last year to better understand the performances of local authorities, warn when authorities are at risk of serious failure, and support local government to improve itself. It measures councils by finance, waste, roads, social care and planning.
Hertfordshire County Council, which was ranked 172 overall, is responsible for social care and roads for the area.
Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst, Deputy Leader of Three Rivers District Council, said: “Three Rivers is a well-run, efficient council. We provide quality services that are value for money and, most importantly, we never forget whose money we are spending.”
