A playing field in South Oxhey has been granted ‘village green’ status following the approval of Three Rivers District Council’s application.

Hertfordshire County Council has recently approved the designation submitted by the district, ensuring that parts of South Oxhey Playing Fields, including Hampermill Wood, Big Wood, Hampermill Spring, Round Spring, and Ox Pasture Spring, remain open and protected from development.

Alison Scott, Three Rivers District Council’s Shared Director of Finance, said: “I am pleased that our application has been approved by Hertfordshire County Council for the South Oxhey Playing Fields to be recognised as a village green.

“We know this site is very popular for biodiversity and recreation, and now with this status in situ, the land can continue to be enjoyed for generations.”
