A service to help people stop smoking will be open to new participants this week as National No Smoking Day (8 March) takes place.
The free Stop Smoking Service offers trained advisers and one-to-one support to help residents quit the habit. The Healthy Hub Three Rivers scheme – run by Three Rivers District Council - is offering residents the opportunity to drop in and sign-up at one its three centres at Abbots Langley, South Oxhey and Mill End.
Cllr Chris Lloyd, the council’s Lead Member for Leisure which includes Health, said: “When it comes to your health, stopping smoking is one of the best things you will ever do. It’s not always easy, but it might be much easier when you get the right support – and that is what this news service will offer you. So if you are thinking of quitting, don’t wait. Get down to one of our sessions and give yourself the best chance of success.”
There will also be literature available for guidance and more information at the sessions on the following dates:
- Mill End, Methodist Church, Berry Lane: Tuesday 7 March 12:00-14:00
- Abbots Langley, Hillside Community Hub, 4A School Mead: Wednesday 8 March, 9:00 am – 17:00 pm
- South Oxhey, Oxhey Library, Bridlington Road: Thursday 9 March, 9:30 am – 17:00 pm
Healthy Hubs are a partnership initiative delivered by the district council and funded by Hertfordshire County Council Public Health.
