An international political figure was among the more than 200 visitors at the first ever South Oxhey Autumn Fair this weekend.
Portuguese member of parliament, Paulo Pisco, visited the event as a guest of the Watford Portuguese Association during a whistle-stop trip to the UK on Saturday.
Mr Pisco, a member of the Socialists, Democrats and Greens Group in the parliament, is also a member of the committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons - and South Oxhey was the first port of call on his visit to the UK on Saturday.
Activities at the fair, organised by Three Rivers District Council and sponsored by Thrive Homes, included live exercise sessions, live cooking, medical and health advice, skills and employment support, and fun activities for children.
Cllr Debbie Morris, Chair of the Council, said: "I really enjoyed my time at the fair. There were so many organisations represented - each doing a magnificent job in the community - and it was interesting learning about their respective roles. Thank you to the very many people involved who undoubtedly contributed to its success. I hope that it becomes an annual event."
The fair was held to increase awareness of the many local services across the district, and to champion the local community.
Raffle prizes were generously donated by Watersmeet, Oxhey Jets FC, West Herts College, Sporting Kids, South Oxhey Leisure Centre, E.ON, CLP, Age UK and WFC Trust.
