Five hundred solar panels have been installed on the roof of William Penn Leisure Centre in Rickmansworth as part of a project to help decarbonise Three Rivers District and achieve the council’s net zero aim.

Drakes Renewables, a local company contracted by the council, recently completed works to install the 440W solar panels, which will help reduce costs and have a projected annual carbon saving of 83.5 tonnes.

The works were made possible thanks to a £152,800 grant from the government’s Swimming Pool Support Fund.
