Learn about sustainable living for Great Big Green Week
Residents across Three Rivers have been finding out about how to live more sustainably ahead of the UK’s biggest ever celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.
Three Rivers District Council’s climate change and sustainability team have been on tour at two major events in recent weeks. And the tour of the team’s sustainable living stall continues at the upcoming ECO Home and Garden event on 15 June.
The tour has been taking place in the build-up to Great Big Green Week. Every year, people come together to unleash a wave of support for action to protect the planet. This year Great Big Green Week takes place between 8 and 16 June.
Great Big Green Week was first celebrated in 2021. To mark the week, Southwest Herts Great Big Green Week is collaborating with local organisations to hold both free and ticketed events during these dates.
Jo Hewitson, Climate Change and Sustainability Strategy Officer, said: “It is great to see so many people wanting to learn about the impact they can have on their local environment, and the small and large changes we can all make in our own lives to have a positive impact. Great Big Green Week is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the efforts everyone is making, and to inspire new ideas which help nature thrive and reduce our carbon footprint further”.
The district council’s climate change stall has already appeared at a Gardening Fair on 26 May and at the Tour de Ricky on 1 June at Woodoaks Farm.
Visitors have the opportunity to make pledges towards a more sustainable way of living. Whether it's reducing carbon emissions, adopting eco-friendly practices, or supporting local green initiatives, every pledge is a step towards a brighter, cleaner future.
