Help lead the climate change conversation at Three Rivers
Are you passionate about making your area a better place to live? Your voice can help shape how Three Rivers District Council’s strategy positively responds to climate change and make the district a greater place to live work and visit.
The council is working with Involve, the UK’s leading public participation charity, to understand what’s important to residents, what should be protected as we prepare for climate change and how communities and the council can collaborate to secure a more sustainable future.
Involve is looking for 20 residents aged 18-55 years old to have meaningful conversations with their friends, family, colleagues and neighbours about climate change in Three Rivers and beyond. Residents aged 18-25 are encouraged in particular to get involved with the climate change conversation.
Participants will come together over four days in February and March 2025 to take part in training, have conversations in their communities, and share back what they're hearing. The results will influence the council’s Climate Emergency and Sustainability Strategy and Action Plan and ensure that the council’s efforts to reduce emissions and prepare for the impacts of climate change are aligned with the priorities and concerns of residents.
Those chosen will be paid for their time and any associated expenses. No knowledge of climate change or previous experience is necessary. The council is keen to hear the views of a diverse mix of people from across the district, including people from minority and underrepresented groups.
Applications are open until 5 February 2025.
Cllr Jon Tankard, Lead Member for Sustainability and Climate Change, said "We are committed to building a sustainable and climate-resilient future for Three Rivers. This is an exciting opportunity for residents to directly shape the decisions we make by creating a positive shared vision for the future of the district. We want to hear from as many people as possible, ensuring that our response to climate change is both effective and reflective of the diverse needs of our district’s communities."
