Garden waste goes full circle and returns as free compost for residents
Garden waste collected from local homes has gone full circle and is now being made available as organic compost free to local gardeners.
Three Rivers residents can collect up to two bags per household of the organic compost produced from garden waste collected from homes across Hertfordshire and donated by Severn Trent Green Power.
The annual compost giveaway is organised as a way of thanking people for recycling their garden waste, while also encouraging gardening enthusiasts to use sustainably produced local compost.
Ray Figg, Three Rivers District Council’s Head of Community Services, said: “This is an amazing thing to see happening, all those times you have filled you garden waste bins over the summer and autumn months and seen it taken away is now being rewarded with lovely organic compost for your garden. Truly, this is the circle of garden life in action. Come along and get your free bags and nourish your garden this spring.”
Three Rivers District Council’s garden compost giveaway will take place at Rickmansworth Aquadrome on Wednesday 10 May from 9.30am until compost runs out. Residents must bring their own bags to fill.
