Beryl Bike expansion reaches 1,000 rides in just two months
A cycle hire scheme recently expanded into Three Rivers has seen more than 1,000 trips since it launched.
The Beryl Bike scheme was introduced in Watford in 2020. It was later expanded into Croxley Green in October 2024, giving residents the opportunity to pick up one of 15 e-bikes from new bays to travel across the district and beyond.
The expansion was funded by the district council through its Community Infrastructure Levy. In November alone, 466 journeys within, to and from Croxley Green were made, that’s an average of 17 trips a day.
Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst, Leader of Three Rivers District Council, said: “I am very pleased to see that residents have been quick to take up an e-bike, showing early indications that people are interested in swapping their private vehicles for sustainable transport for short journeys.
“This is positive to see, and I look forward to seeing more riders use this service. I am still keen to see this scheme be expanded across the district so that everyone has access to a Beryl Bike.”
