Protected trees
You must notify us if you intend to cut or remove a protected tree. Trees in Three Rivers District have protected status if they:
- are covered by a tree preservation order (TPO)
- are growing in a conservation area
If you wish to carry out works to a tree, you must first check whether the tree is protected. You can do this using our protected tree map.
For more information on tree works please visit our 'apply to carry out works on a protected tree' page
For more information on tree protection, see the Communities and Local Government Guide to Tree Preservation Procedures.
It is an offence to prune, fell, damage or harm a protected tree, unless the works are exempt, and you can receive an unlimited fine or criminal conviction.
