Information and advice on dangerous trees

The maintenance of a tree in a safe condition is the responsibility of the tree owner.  If you believe a tree in your garden is dangerous, you should contact a reputable tree surgeon to inspect it as soon as possible, you can search for qualified contractors on the Arboricultural Association’s website at:  https://www.trees.org.uk/ARB-Approved-Contractor-Directory

If you believe a tree, owned by Three Rivers District Council or of an unknown owner, is dangerous you can contact the Trees and Woodlands team at TRDC on 01923 776611 during normal office hours (Mon-Fri, 9am to 5pm) to report the issue and seek advice.

Trees on the road verge are, in most cases the responsibility of Hertfordshire Highways, part of Hertfordshire County Council.  You can contact them online or by phoning: 0300 1234047.

In an emergency, at weekends or outside of office hours, please contact the Police, or if the tree is next to a road, Hertfordshire Highways.
