Lost property
What to do if you think you may have left a personal belonging in a taxi or private hire vehicle
If you think you may have left an item in a taxi or private hire vehicle that you pre-booked, first check with the operator to see whether anything was left in the vehicle. Operators will often keep lost property for a short time for you to collect.
Taxi and private vehicle hire drivers must take unclaimed high-value lost property items to a police station. This includes electronics, jewellery, wallets and official documents. The police no longer accept low-value items of lost property, such as clothing, umbrellas and books. You can check whether an item has been handed in by calling the Hertfordshire Constabulary on 101.
