Residents to benefit from new weatherproof bus shelters
New bus shelters have been installed across Three Rivers in a bid to encourage more people to take up public transport.
The high-quality sustainable timber shelters are located at Prestwick Road in South Oxhey and at Downings Wood in Maple Cross.
This is part of the Better Buses Programme, which is a Three Rivers scheme that aims to improve access to public transport for residents, businesses, and visitors through infrastructure improvements, such as bus shelters and funding for local bus services.
Cllr Paul Rainbow, Lead Member for Transport, said: “I am delighted that two new bus shelters have been installed. These high-quality shelters will provide much-needed weather protection for our residents and commuters, who are rightly taking public transport rather than private vehicle.
“The lighting in the bus shelter in Prestwick Road has also been specifically designed to be powered by the sun, removing the need for expensive mains connections and helping reduce the district’s CO2 emissions.”
