The Summer Photograph display showcases the beautiful landscapes, flora, fauna and wildlife that call Rickmansworth Aquadrome their home and can be seen at the dog-free picnic area until the end of August.

Local residents captured the Rickmansworth Aquadrome’s beauty at two recent Photography Walks, led by photographer Pete Stevens and organised by Three Rivers District Council.

One walk encouraged the aspiring photographers to see the nature reserve through new eyes and to take photos that told an interesting story that appreciated the beautiful surroundings and put a spotlight on the importance of preserving this special place.

A second session was co-led by Ralph Giles from Hertfordshire County Council’s Countryside Management Service and combined education with photography. People got the opportunity to learn about the diverse trees on-site while taking pictures of these natural wonders up close, capturing their texture, shape and colour.

Emma Sheridan, Associate Director for Environmental at Three Rivers District Council, said: “The Rickmansworth Aquadrome is a very photogenic place and is a unique place in terms of its ecology, facilities and environment that people from the district and beyond can enjoy.

“Many thanks go to the residents who have kindly shared their photos for everyone to see.”

The Photography Walk was funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, which distributes a share of National Lottery funding to support a wide range of heritage projects across the UK, including Rickmansworth Aquadrome. Thanks to National Lottery players, the council has been able to offer memorable engagement opportunities, for the community to enjoy.

About The National Lottery Heritage Fund

Our vision is for heritage to be valued, cared for and sustained for everyone, now and in the future. That’s why as the largest funder for the UK’s heritage we are dedicated to supporting projects that connect people and communities to heritage, as set out in our strategic plan, Heritage 2033. Heritage can be anything from the past that people value and want to pass on to future generations. We believe in the power of heritage to ignite the imagination, offer joy and inspiration, and to build pride in place and connection to the past. Over the next 10 years, we aim to invest £3.6billion raised for good causes by National Lottery players to make a decisive difference for people, places and communities.
