New Lead Members appointed

Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst, Leader of Three Rivers District Council

New Lead Members have been appointed to be part of Three Rivers District Council’s top team following Tuesday’s Full Council meeting.

Councillors unanimously approved on 9 July to appoint Cllr Sarah Nelmes as the new Deputy Council Leader, Cllr Steve Drury as the Lead Member for Housing and Public Health and Cllr Jonathon Solomons as Lead Member for Resources.

The previous Deputy Leader and Lead Member for Resources, Matthew Bedford, resigned as a councillor and Cllr Sara Bedford, the former Lead Member for Housing and Public Health, now stands as an Independent member.

Lead Members are appointed by Full Council and are held accountable for their respective portfolios as well as holding council officers to account and shape work around their individual service or policy area.

· Cllr Andrew Scarth - Lead Member for Community Safety and Partnerships

· Cllr Jonathon Solomons - Lead Member for Resources

· Cllr Jon Tankard - Lead Member for Climate Change & Sustainability

Cllr Giles-Medhurst said: “This council continues to have a strong Lead Member team that offers a wealth of knowledge in order to keep delivering on the priorities of our residents.

“I welcome Cllr Nelmes in becoming the new Deputy Leader and I also welcome Cllrs Solomons and Drury in joining my tpo team. I would also like to thank Matthew Bedford for his hard work and helping to secure the council’s finances over a long period.”
